• The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended flat at 24,464.69, the S&P 500 gained 8.04 points, or 0.30 percent, to 2,649.93 and the Nasdaq Composite added 63.43 points, or 0.92 percent, to 6,972.25.

The S&P 500 ended higher on Wednesday after a brutal two-day selloff, led by a rebound in energy and technology shares, but the market faltered toward the session’s end as Apple shares surrendered gains ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

• The U.S. stock market will be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving and will close at 1 p.m. EST (1800 GMT) on Friday.

• European stocks closed higher Wednesday, clawing their way back from sharp losses sustained in the previous session.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 finished provisionally up 1.2 percent during the day's deals, with all sectors and major bourses in positive territory.

• Stocks in Asia traded up on Thursday morning following a mostly higher finish on Wall Street as the U.S. nears the Thanksgiving holiday.

Japan's Nikkei 225 advanced 0.27 percent in early trade while the Topix saw gains of 0.17 percent. South Korea's Kospi traded fractionally higher.
