· Stocks slipped from record levels on Wednesday as Wall Street digested a mixed batch of corporate earnings.

The Nasdaq Composite ended the day down 0.2% at 8,102.01 after hitting an intraday record. The S&P 500 also dipped 0.2% to 2,927.25 as the energy and communication sectors underperformed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 59.34 points lower at 26,597.05.

· European stocks closed lower on Wednesday, dragged down by underwhelming corporate earnings and fall in crude oil prices.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 ended the session slightly below the flatline, with sectors and major bourses pointing in opposite directions.

· Stocks in Asia were mixed in Thursday morning trade following an overnight dip on Wall Street amid mixed earnings results.

The Nikkei 225 in Japan rose 0.19% in early trade, while the Topix index advanced 0.26%.

The Bank of Japan is set to release its monetary policy statement later on Thursday, with interest rates expected to remain unchanged.

Over in South Korea, the Kospi declined 0.28%.

· Australia’s markets are closed on Thursday due to a holiday.
